CARAS

The artist and the subject develop a connection like no other. It may come about by chance, perhaps even secretly, with a quick sketch made in passing the concept was formed. The idea will prosper, ceremoniously, over a series of layers and processes. Whatever the circumstances are, the artist and the subject were then bound together by the portrait. Mixed medium builds rhythmic patterns on the surface to enhance the paintings using layers of paints, from the base to the final touches and application of traditional art mediums. The theme started in 2021 and remains the favourite portraiture theme of the artist. Caras also speak equally of authenticity and authority.

AURA

Aura refers to the visual portraiture theme characterized by the sphere-shaped textural pattern on its surface. The shallow motif hovering on the subject gives these paintings a unique character and distinction. The lines creates a rhythm not to distract but to compliment the subject in expressing its emotion. It is not a theme about a certain persona but more on the portraiture style that the artist is trying to represent. It could be called portraits of emotions and expressions of the artist's conceptual works. The series was painted in 2018, also speaks equally of infinity and authenticity.

 

SKINS

One of the best visual creations of the artist, explores the circular patterns that can be formed in paintings. Each piece starts with a subtle pattern and progresses in a unique way by using various art techniques. The series has 2 inceptions, The first started in 2010, was shown in an exhibition with the same title. A second take was completed later on in 2015, based on the same concept initiated by some customized works for his collectors. A showcase of contemporary mixed media artworks, These circular patterns were also an inspiration to his succeeding figurative theme, Faccia.

STRAP ENSEMBLE

The artist considers this as one of his most challenging art series. It is also one of the biggest with 22 large-scale paintings in the collection. Envisioning how these elongated flaps would be an appealing subject for him. He wanted to show and illustrate its flexibility while fancying how elegant these ribbons can be. He had to improvise tools to do it to maintain its perspective, a vital element in this series. The series took 3 years to finish, from 2014 to 2016. Strap Ensemble is a sold-out art series.

ASTRAL ELEMENTS

These artworks were the main series featured in 'Testing the Waters'. His extensive exploits of makeshift tools and methods allow his abstract artworks to prove deeply into a wide variety of topics. His unconventional style of painting embraces contemporary themes of infinity, reverie, and optimism. A sold-out series completed in 2010.

LUMBERJACKS

A collection of contemporary artworks featuring abstract impressionism, a mode which the artist believes to be his finest strength in visual expression. Lumberjacks have somehow inspired the series 'Strap Ensemble'. His extensive use of makeshift tools to create texture combined with various techniques probed deeply in illustrating these forms and rhythm. One of the very first series he completed in his Melbourne studio in 2009. This series was also featured in the 'Testing the Waters' exhibition.

INTERMEZZO

If a pattern exists elsewhere, certainly it can subsist in art. The artist's experimental techniques were driven by his need and desire to reproduce the patterns he created in every artwork he does. The finer points of creative expression find fulfillment in his ability to weld imagination with the effective handling of his craft. Intermezzo is a progression from the Beyond the Lines series. He worked and completed Intermezzo in early 2007 until late 2008.

VERTICAL HORIZONS

A collection of contemporary artworks featuring abstract impressionism with his vertical landscapes. A subseries of 'Beyond the Lines', a showcase of his unique vertical landscapes. Year 2006 was a busy one for the artist, concluding his year by completing this series. His extensive use of makeshift tools and techniques probed deeply in creating this particular topic. The finer points of creative expression find fulfillment in his ability to weld imagination with the effective handling of his craft.

ALTERNATING CURRENTS

Alternating Currents is just one of the few series he did on wood panels. This series was done in mixed media on wood panels. The texture is a vital element in the artist's artworks as a large amount of assorted medium builds rhythmic patterns on the surface to enhance his works. He uses layers, oftentimes dozen of layers of paints, from the base to the final touches and application of traditional art mediums. Completed in 2005.

WOMAN IN A BOX

The very first figurative series of the artist consists of highly textured mixed media works. These monotone forms speak of underlying tension and surrender, desire and restraint, amidst the figure's curtain of anonymity. For even in its heightened state, most of the paintings in the series have no distinctive facial features that might distract with the artist's concentration on the subtle elements of human structure. Completed in 2000 after more than a year of studio work. A sold-out series.

UNCATEGORISED WORKS

A showcase of selected contemporary mixed media artworks that were one-offs or uncategorised. The artist considered texture, composition and colour as the most important elements of his works. He often engaged with tools found in an industrial workshop rather than in a conventional art studio in experimenting and exploring his visual arts. These extensive experiments led to the creation of some of his most interesting and unique works to date.

COMMISSIONED WORKS

Featuring selected commissioned works of the artist. He dedicates almost a third of his yearly production to commission art. Although he finds these works more challenging than his conceptual art series, he sees the process as a collaboration between himself and the collector. During the process, both rely on their understanding of his style, representation, and imagery.
